Hawks looking to improve

The struggles continue for Bethlehem Catholic during a tough start to the season for the Hawks.

Becahi (1-5) has lost four straight games coming into the week, but have showed signs of life in the process in falling to Nazareth in a 51-49 nail-biter last week.

That hasn’t been lost on head coach Scott McClary, who is trying to keep the team afloat amid all their struggles dealing with a vastly inexperienced and injured roster.

“The last week continued our struggle in the win column, but was yet another week in our climb to improve,” said McClary. “Missing that game winning shot [against Nazareth] was a blow to the boys emotionally, but we are showing signs of getting better and getting some valuable experience.”

The Hawks schedule thus far on the season has been tough and it doesn’t get any easier this week with games against Whitehall (5-2) and East Stroudsburg South (2-4).

“This week will prove to be another major challenge with Whitehall on the road Tuesday, who is one of the very top teams in the EPC this year,” McClary said. “Then, we finish out the week with ESS, who has one of the best individual players (Jaen Chatman) in the EPC. The schedule has been extremely challenging out of the gate for us, but it truly measures where we are and what it is we need to do moving forward.”
