EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I’m a senior at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Lisa and Mike and my sister is Emma.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subject is English because I love to read and write and would choose that any day over dealing with numbers or experiments.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I received the Union League of Philadelphia Good Citizenship Award for exceptional work in the classroom, the community and on the athletic field which was presented to me through my involvement with the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association. I have also achieved the Principal’s Honor Roll every year since ninth grade.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am involved in club soccer and high school soccer. Being involved with these sports has helped me to balance multiple things at once. I have learned good time management because, on top of tests and homework for high school, I also have either soccer practice or games practically every day.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge to date would be figuring out what I want to do when I go to college. In middle school, I was set on radiology and the medical field. In high school, up until this summer, I was set on criminology and criminal justice. I picked every college I wanted to apply to based on a criminology major but after having a one-on-one talk with a professor, I realized that path wasn’t for me. Because of that conversation, I switched my major to journalism and communications and had to redo all my college applications and start a new school hunt to find ones right for me.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. After high school, I will attend college and get my master’s degree in journalism and communications.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. I hope to most emulate my Young Life leader Connie. She is the kindest person I have ever met and does not have a single bad bone in her body. She is always willing to help someone out no matter the circumstances. I know many people who look up to her, including myself. I want people to think of me the same way they think of her.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my accomplishments but also just the type of person I am. I hope that people remember me for being kind and funny, and just an overall good person to be around.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Never take anything for granted and life is too short to push things off. Go after what you want and make the most of every moment that is presented to you, whether that be big or small.
