Dec. 20
Join in the Christmas celebration with the Emmaus Historical Society for the annual covered dish party 5:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 501 Chestnut St. The society will provide the main dish. Guests are invited to bring an appetizer, side dish or dessert. Please call the museum with how many guests will be attending and what you may be adding to the potluck dinner. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater.
Grace Lutheran Church will offer a free food distribution 2-4 p.m. for East Penn School District residents. Also Dec. 27. Signs will be posted with directions for parking and pickup.
Dec. 31
Macungie Memorial Park will host New Year’s Eve Bingo. Doors open 5 p.m. and games start promptly 7:15 p.m. To purchase tickets or for more information, call 610-966-2503 or email macungiepark@gmail.com.

Author Brad Meltzer will make a stop on the tour for his book “I Am Ruth Ginsburg” 5 p.m. at Cedar Crest College, Alumnae Auditorium, 100 College Drive. The book is the latest in the “Ordinary People Change the World” series. Admission is free, however, tickets are required and available through the website www.letsplaybooks.com. A presentation about the book will be followed by a book signing.

The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will host a bus trip to Lancaster to see author Kristin Hannah in conversation with author Adriana Trigiani. The bus will leave from Weis Markets, 1220 Chestnut St., Emmaus, 9:30 a.m. and return by approximately 5 p.m. There is a cost for tickets which will include lunch and free time at Shady Maple as well as a signed hardcover copy of Hannah’s new book “The Women,” scheduled to be released in February 2024. Space is limited and reservations must be made by Jan. 10, 2024. Reservation forms are available at the library main desk. Proceeds will benefit Emmaus Public Library.
