LCTI’s animal sciences and emerging health professionals programs are a perfect fit for rising high school seniors who plan to pursue careers centered around the care and treatment of animals or health care careers. These intensive, dual-enrollment programs are designed to give students a head start on college and expose them to a variety of professions in animal sciences, veterinary medicine or health care through job shadows, hands-on training and clinical study at facilities across the region.

These programs are accepting applications for the 2024-25 school year. Applicants are encouraged to thoroughly review the materials in the first and second parts before beginning the online application in part three.

The application deadline is Jan. 5, 2024.

Are you interested in learning the skills to be an EMT? If so, Lehigh Valley Health Network has a EMT class/training program scheduled to begin in early February 2024. Classes are held Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as occasional Saturdays, at the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute, for approximately 20 weeks.

The GEMEMI campus, located at 2100 Mack Blvd., Allentown, is a hospital-based training center that is accredited to teach American Heart Association certification courses; pre-hospital education, including EMT certification program; paramedic programs; and trauma education for physicians and nurses.

Students must be at least 16 years of age to participate in the EMT program. Students ages 18 or older will be eligible to test for the National Registry EMT credential for an additional fee.

A physician release and proof of health insurance is mandatory. Internet and computer access for online testing is required.

There is a cost for the program.
