LaMar C. Mertz Sr., 91, of Bethlehem, died December 14, 2023. He was the husband of the late Althea (Berger) Mertz.

Born in Weissport, he was a son of the late Ruth (German) and Clinton Mertz.

He spent time in training camp with the Boston Braves before being drafted to the U. S. Army.

He worked in the garment industry, mainly at Group Frocks until he retired as the manager of the cutting department.

He was for many years a deacon at First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem.

He is survived by a son, LaMar C. Mertz Jr.
