Liberty diving coach Emily Kocis has an array of divers on the Hurricane team for the 2023-2024 season.

Returning to the board are seniors Makenna Rutkowski and Vonn Delosantos.

Senior Gabby Madeira is new, as well as sophomore Jaxson Dorsey and freshman Eva Madeira.

“Jaxson comes to the team with an almost full 11-dive list and is eager and a quick learner. There are several things that need a little bit of extra attention as far as form, but the mechanics and the physics are definitely there,” Kocis said. “Eva, in more ways than one, reminds me of (2A state champion) Anna (Petke). I see so much of Anna in her freshman year in Eva. I’m excited to work with her. She also is a retired gymnast, so she has the flipping and twisting. We just need to adjust her speed and takeoff positions.”

Madeira has been training with the Lehigh Diving Club as a first-year diver.

“I’m sad she’s a senior,” said Kocis. “She’s got a ton of talent.”

Liberty’s home opener is scheduled for Dec. 12 against Stroudsburg.

“I am looking forward to the talent that this young and old team brings,” Kocis said. “This group is excited to learn new things and eager to be on the board.”
