Lori Sassaman

Lori “Lit Lori” (Schaedel) Sassaman, 62, of Salisbury Township, died Dec. 7, 2023, after a short but incredibly brave battle with breast cancer surrounded by an overflowing room of loved ones at St. Luke’s, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Jack Sassaman for 32 years until his death a year ago. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of Ronnie and Edda (Minutolo) Schaedel.

She was a 1979 graduate of William Allen High School and worked for Capital Blue Cross for 32 years. Known affectionately as “Lit Lori” or “Shades” to those who knew and loved her best, she was a devoted wife, the best mom and grandmother to her grand puppy German shepherd, Kilo.

Her favorite days were spent soaking up the sun on the beach in Wildwood, N.J. or Atlantis in the Bahamas or adventuring in New York while her favorite nights were spent on the boardwalk, dance floor or singing along to live music. Her family considered her their “glue.” Her sense of style, especially her fancy sandals, will be missed.

She is survived by a son, Jack; daughter, Melanie; parents; brother, Rick and his wife, Trena Schaedel; brother-in law, Shawn; nephew, Alex; niece, Lauren; half-sister-in-law, Gayle Kelley; cousins, Antonetta “Toni” Prelovsky (John); Lisa Platton (Ken), Victor Tropiano; many other family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband; grandmother, Antonetta Minutolo, Aunt Emma and Uncle Sal Tropiano, Uncle Larry and Aunt Shirley Minutolo, Uncle Pat Minutolo.

Contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
