Carol Renninger, former American Legion Post 367 Auxiliary president, died unexpectedly. There will be a memorial service 10 a.m. Dec. 16 at Gilbert Funeral Home, 444 Pershing Blvd., followed by a celebration of life at the Legion hall, 609 Fullerton Ave.

Donations to offset the expenses are appreciated in lieu of flowers.

The West Catasauqua firefighters will host the annual Operation Santa 1-9 p.m. Dec. 17.

If you live in the West Catasauqua area or Echo Hills, Walnut Ridge, Peachtree, Evergreen Park, Presidential Estates, Haven Ridge, Village Green or Walnut Gardens, you can be on Santa’s list. Drop off a wrapped gift - one per child - at the fire station at Second Avenue and Main Street.

St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 835 Third St., will hold a Blue Christmas service Dec. 20. A free supper will be served 6 p.m. in Fritze Hall. A quiet time of worship for comfort and healing will begin 6:45 p.m.

Christmas services at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church will be held 5 p.m. Dec. 24 and 9:30 a.m. Dec. 25 in the sanctuary.

St. Elizabeth of Hungary Roman Catholic Church, 618 Fullerton Ave., has Christmas Eve services set for 4:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Dec. 24 and Christmas Day services 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Dec. 25.

St. John’s continues its monthly food drive collection for the Whitehall Food Pantry. The congregation collects cereals of all kinds except Corn Flakes. Other needed items include tuna, pasta, corn, peaches, pears and soups.
