Dylan Collazo presents his latest works in “Born Mafiusu,” through Dec. 9, Collazo Studio, 21 N. Seventh St., Suite 2, Allentown.
“Mafiusu” is a Sicilian adjective that, for Collazo, “denotes swagger and boldness.”
Collazo draws inspiration from pop culture shows like “The Sopranos,” from which “Paulie” (2023, acrylic on canvas, 48 in. x 36 in.) is a character.
“I use the eye as a portal,” says Collazo about the angled eyes found in his paintings.
Collazo’s wife, Jessica, curated “Born Mafiusu” and the accompanying “Heart of the City,” a collection of photographs by Adrian Adan and Devin Ford with video by Justin A. Little.
The artist looks to continue exhibiting in a variety of temporary venues through Collazo Studio.
GT3-Jazz played music and Isaiah B. Kyng provided performance art at the gallery exhibition Nov. 25 opening.
