Donald H. Kern, 84, of Whitehall, died Nov. 30, 2023, at home. He was the husband of Betty A. (Klym) Kern for 62 years.

Born in Egypt, he was a son of the late Herbert and Helen (Palansky) Kern.

He was an airman 1st class in the Air Force from 1957 to 1965.

He was a computer operator for 29 years for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation until he retired in 1989. He was then a sales clerk for Macy’s Department Store, Whitehall; worked in security for sporting events at Muhlenberg College, Allentown; and was a cashier at Giant Food Store, Whitehall.

He attended Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Whitehall.

He was a member of the Egypt Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7293.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Dale H. of Emporium; two daughters, Lorrie L. and her husband Steven Day of Northampton and Sandra L. and her husband of Richard Jones of Hatboro; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be private.
