STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Nate Harney is in second grade at Asa Packer ES. Nate is a responsible and exceptionally hardworking student. His “Puma Pride” is evident in his willingness to help everyone in his school community. Nate’s vibrant personality and contagious smile light up the hallways at Asa Packer.

STAFF SPOTLIGHT: Michele Sarkozy is a secretary at Miller Heights ES. Mrs. Sarkozy works tirelessly to communicate and make staff, students and parents happy. Her outstanding work ethic and pride in her position make her an asset to the Bethlehem Area School District.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: Major Thomas Giovarelli Jr. graduated from Freedom HS in 2007. Major Giovarelli is currently serving in the U.S. Air Force. He is the Chief of Fire Operations (air to ground) and manager for the JTAC programs.

CHARTER SCHOOL APPLICATION: The BASD Board of School Directors will review the application of Steam Academy Charter School following their 7 p.m. meeting on Dec. 18 at East Hills MS. The hearing will include public comments.

STUFF THE BUS!: BASD Transportation is holding its third annual Stuff the Bus toy and food drive. Donations will be accepted at Walmart Bethlehem Plaza Rt. 191 Dec. 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and at Christkindlmarkt at SteelStacks from Dec. 8-10, 15-17, 22-24, Fridays from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

BAVTS HOLIDAY BAZAAR: BAVTS Student Programs will showcase their talents and abilities with a variety of holiday gifts available for purchase. Dec. 6 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
