The Salisbury Township Recreation Advisory Committee held a meeting Nov. 20 to plan and discuss upcoming township events.
Despite the committee’s best efforts to hold a successful tree lighting ceremony at Franko Park this December the event has been postponed for one more year. While there will be no official gathering, the public works department will hang the wreath and string the lights in the beginning of December and the township will post when the tree is complete. Residents are welcomed to stop by and see the tree in all its Christmas splendor.
Work on next year’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony will begin in January and the committee hopes to be able to involve more members of the community to make the celebration a success.
In her parks report, Recreation Director Genny Baillie announced the refurbishing of Devonshire is nearly complete. The tennis courts have been resurfaced and relined, the pavilion has been renovated and a new water bottle filling station has been installed. This spring crews will lay macadam on pathways.
Mark your calendars for Sept. 14, 2024 for another free community concert at Franko Park. The band AM Radio will once again lead residents on a musical trip back to the 60s and 70s complete with tie-dyed shirts, go-go boots and tambourines.
The Recreation Advisory Committee continues to seek applicants from the first and fifth wards. Meetings are held 7:30 p.m. on the third Monday of every other month. If you are interested you can apply at salisburytownshippa.org.
The next meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Jan. 15, 2024 in the municipal building, 2900 S. Pike Ave.
