FHS brings back 5

Five key senior returners will lead Freedom’s girls basketball team as they return to the hardwood in December under new head coach Deanna Radio.

Jordan McIlroy, Alexandra Sena, Maliya Gonzalez, along with captains Alexus McNeil and Ronee Brodie are the aforementioned Patriots.

“Our captains play a crucial role in shaping the identity of our team,” said Coach Radio. “Through their leadership, dedication, and positive influence, we aim to create an environment that fosters growth, teamwork, and success on and off the court.

“One of the things I love most about this team is their dedication to getting better every day, and that started from day one in the offseason. They’ve put in the work to develop not only their individual skills and execution as a team but also to make sure they are mentally prepared for the upcoming season. I’m extremely proud of the commitment they made to each other, the program, and our goals over the last few months, and I know it will serve us well this season.”

Coach Radio will be assisted by head varsity assistant Nicole Calabrese, head junior varsity coach Bill Dosedlo, junior varsity assistant coach Karla Garmon, and junior high head coach Ashley Husser.

“I’m most looking forward to the opportunity for our team to compete at a high level this season,” Radio said. “On the court, we’re focused on developing a strong sense of unity and trust among teammates to achieve success. Beyond the game itself, we also place a high value on personal growth and skill development. Ultimately, our goal is to create an environment where every player feels empowered to contribute to the team’s success, both on and off the court.”
