Ms. Kostura’s class recently participated in a fundraiser to help promote the character trait of the month - thankfulness! The class worked with Samaritan Purse to fill shoe boxes with toys and necessities for children all around the globe. Sheckler Elementary School students were able to fill 10 shoe boxes.

Girl Scout troops will be hosting information sessions for those looking to participate. Visit the school’s Facebook page for a QR code to scan for more information.

Sessions will include 7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 11 at Bethany United Methodist Church, 1208 Brookside Road, Allentown, and 7 p.m. Dec. 6 and 13 at Jordan Lutheran Church, 5103 Snowdrift Road, Orefield.

Catasauqua Area School District Board of Education will meet 7 p.m. Dec. 5. The board gathers in the CASD board room at 201 N. 14th St.

There is a Home and School meeting set for 6-7 p.m. Dec. 7.

Sheckler Elementary’s annual giving tree has returned to help students and families in need. Take a tag from the tree in the front lobby and return the gift unwrapped to the main office by Dec. 11.

All gifts will benefit a Sheckler family in need.

Sheckler is looking for a noncertified instructional aide for a yearly 191-day position. The aide will support and assist the academic, behavioral, emotional and physical needs of students in both regular and special education classrooms.
