Samuel Joseph Hoanzl Jr., 94, of Walnutport, previously a longtime resident of Coplay, died peacefully Nov. 22, 2023.
He and his wife, Faye (Roberts) Hoanzl, were married 67 years.
Born in Coplay, he was a son of the late Samuel J. and Julia (Perl) Hoanzl Sr.
A 1948 graduate of Coplay High School, he earned his degree in physics from Muhlenberg College.
He honorably served in U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He became a section chief at Western Electric and AT&T, Allentown, retiring in 1985 after 37 years of service.
He was the owner and CEO of Mantissa Computer Systems/Phasecom Electric Instrument Company, Bethlehem, and co-owner with his wife of Bridals by Faye, Whitehall, for 33 years.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Coplay.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son David Hoanzl and his wife, Genni, of Conway, Ark.; daughter Lori Holota and her husband, David, of Walnutport; grandchildren Benjamin Samuel and Casey Lynne Hoanzl both of Conway, Jessica L. and her husband, Dr. Matthew Klitsch, and Ryan D. Holota, all of Walnutport; and great-grandson Jackson William Klitsch.
He was predeceased by sisters Hilda Dulick and Elsie Hoenl.
Services will be private at the convenience of his family.
