Bernard M. Steber, 91, of Allentown, died Oct. 25, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was the husband of Mary Carol (Boyle) for 60 years. Born in Lansford (Carbon County), he was a son of the late Michael J. and Anna (Porvaznik) Steber.
He was manager of employee communications at PP & L for a number of years, retiring in 1993. He previously worked for the Philco-Ford Corporation in Ft. Washington (Bucks County), The Morning Call (Lehighton, Bethlehem and Allentown offices) and the former Lansford Evening Record.
He was a graduate of the former Lansford High School and Penn State University.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Allentown, where he was a former Cub Master of its Cub Scout Pack 439 for several years and adviser to its Boy Scout Troop 439. He was a former chairman of the Minsi Trails Council public relations committee and was league manager in the Hamilton Park baseball organization for several years.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Annmarie, of Bethlehem, Michele and her husband, Brett Matheis, of Washington, N.J.; son, Christopher, of Baltimore, Md.; brother, Michael and his wife, Mary, of Liverpool, N.Y.; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Jean Henning; two infant brothers.
