High school repairs, admin agreements approved

Administrative recommendations highlighted the BASD regular meeting Nov. 20.

As recommended by the facilities committee, the board agreed to submit a land development application to various authorities to protect the district property at Freemansburg Avenue and Farmersville Road.

The capital plan projects for next summer were also approved. The work at Liberty and Freedom high schools includes installing hot/chilled water piping filter system, replacing boilers, replacing water heaters, and replacing Freedom’s synthetic turf. At Liberty, they will install bathroom doors, replace boilers and pumps, and replace water heaters. The budget for these projects totals $3,162,659 and will be funded by capital reserve funds.

The board approved the submission of a proposal for a $10,000 grant through the Laura Bush Foundation, as well as a $6,000 grant from the Cathedral Church of the Nativity.

A collective bargaining agreement between Teamsters Local No. 773 and the school district was approved, covering custodial/maintenance employees effective July 1, through June 30, 2027.

Also approved were agreements with Cohesion Network to conduct faculty, parent/guardian and student positive discipline training, and with Marker Learning to provide K-12 special education and gifted education psychoeducational evaluations.

Committee meetings will resume Dec. 4 and the next regular meeting is scheduled for Dec. 18.
