County discusses technology upgrade

Northampton County Council met Nov. 2 to discuss an ordinance regarding updates to the audio and visual capabilities in council chambers.

Steve Barron, director of fiscal affairs, said he was shocked to see the preliminary list of equipment outlined in the ordinance. He said some of the equipment is not compatible, and the list was reportedly meant to be an either/or list. Additionally, some of the equipment may need to be bid out, Barron said.

There was a scheduled public hearing, debate and possible vote on the ordinance at council’s Nov. 16 meeting.

In other business, council passed a motion recognizing November as Epilepsy Awareness Month to promote education and awareness. Epilepsy Foundation of Eastern Pennsylvania has been serving the county and beyond for more than 50 years.

County council next meets 6:30 p.m. Dec. 7 at the county building, 669 Washington St., Easton.
