Club president resigns

American Club of Coplay celebrated its 57th annual picnic Sept. 9. The picnic was back in full swing after a two-year hiatus from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jerry Deutsch was given special recognition for his 45 years of dedicated service as president of the organization. A plaque was presented to him as a token of appreciation. Deutsch is stepping down from his role with the club.

Deutsch had many visions for the club. He was instrumental in starting the hoagie fundraising project. The hoagie-making got started in a small shop located on Front Street in the borough. He worked for Fuller Company by day and crafted hoagies by night.

To date, the club has surpassed the making of more than 2 million hoagies under his watchful eye.

Another dream fulfilled by Deutsch before stepping down was the erection of the headquarters for American Club of Coplay at 300 Cherry St. The building has capacity to hold 300-400 guests.

Your choice of air conditioning or open doors gives you an elegant feel for the beauty of the secluded surroundings offered inside this quaint little town.

Those attending the picnic congratulated Deutsch on his hard work, dedication and perseverance to put Coplay on the map with a quality venue.
