Holiday book sale at the library Dec. 1

The Woman’s Club of Emmaus recently observed 70 years of celebrating the accomplishments of senior girls at Emmaus High School in their award program called “The Girls of the Month.”
The Emmaus Historical Society is looking for items to add to the Woman’s Club of Emmaus Collection. The club invites any Girl of the Month who is willing to donate her bracelet to the Emmaus Historical Society to contact Andrew Kerstetter, board member of the Emmaus Historical Society at emmaushist@ptd.net.
Lower Lehigh AARP will meet Dec. 14 in the lower level of the Macungie Memorial Park Hall for its Christmas party. Pre-purchased tickets are required. For more information, call Dot at 610-967-3284.
The Friends of the Emmaus Public Library will hold its holiday book sale 6-8 p.m. Dec. 1. The sale will feature new fiction and nonfiction titles suitable for all ages, holiday books, holiday cookbooks and craft books, movies, music CDs, puzzles and two-sided artistic bookmarks. Patrons may take hot cocoa and cookies to go. The sale is cash or check only.
Join the library at Emmaus’ Old Fashioned Christmas celebration by making crafts. All children and their families are welcome to drop by the library 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 2 to make an ornament for their home Christmas tree and one to hang on the Emmaus Triangle tree.
Come to the library for Books and Barks 6:30-7:45 p.m. every fourth Thursday in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Lecture Room. (The November date will be Nov. 29). Children of all ages are invited to bring their own books or borrow the library’s and read to a furry friend from the Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs group. Each dog is trained, evaluated and registered as a therapy dog.
The library will close 5 p.m. Nov. 22 and will be closed Nov. 23 and 24 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. The library’s normal hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and closed Sundays.
Shop small this weekend on Small Business Saturday, Nov. 25, presented by the Emmaus Main Street Partners and First Commonwealth Federal Credit Union. Many local businesses will have special deals and savings for customers. Follow the Emmaus Main Street Partners’ Facebook page for updates on upcoming events and programs.
As the holiday season approaches, Emmaus has many exciting activities planned for the community. Stay updated by following the Emmaus Borough Facebook page and checking the calendar at emmauspa.gov.
Local businesses are organizing a Cheers Trail noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 2. Anyone 21 years of age or older may purchase tickets for one of the two available trails. Each will spotlight more than 10 local businesses offering cocktails and/or light bites.
The Red Trail includes the East Penn Diner, the Emmaus Historical Society and Triple Sun, while the Green Trail includes Let’s Play Books, Capo & Co and Soul Sisters.
Each guest will receive a passport entitling them to visit 10+ businesses and enjoy their designated food or drink options. Participants may pick up their passports noon to 1 p.m. Dec. 2 at Kleckner and Sons, 575 Chestnut St., Emmaus. You may purchase your tickets via web.lehighvalleychamber.org/events/EmmausCheers%20Trail-839256/register for a discounted price prior to the event. If tickets are still available, they can also be purchased on the day of the event.

Emmaus’ annual Old Fashioned Christmas celebration will also take place 4-7 p.m. Dec. 2 in the Triangle, with many other activities for children and adults. The Emmaus Theatre will show a free holiday movie 3-4:30 p.m. Local bands will perform 4-6 p.m. and Santa will arrive for pictures 5:15 p.m. Local nonprofits will also provide free activities 4-7 p.m.

Emmaus Borough Hall will host an open house Dec. 2 to display the newly renovated space at 28 S. Fourth St. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place 3 p.m. followed by the open house 3-6 p.m. Attendees will get a tour of borough hall, enjoy a treat and get to meet Emmaus’ leaders.
The Central Station will also host an open house and dedication 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 9 at 100 N. Sixth St., Emmaus. The day will include the ribbon cutting, a tour of the newly remodeled Central Station, time to meet the firefighters and EMS crews and opportunities to see the fire trucks, ambulances and equipment.
The next Emmaus Borough Council meetings will be 6-7 p.m. Dec. 4 and 18 on the second floor of the new borough hall, 28 S. Fourth St., Emmaus.
The planning commission will meet 7-8 p.m. Dec. 14.
The recreation and entertainment commission will meet 4-5 p.m. Dec. 12.
Participants may also join through the Zoom links posted in the calendar at emmauspa.gov.
The zoning hearing board meeting Nov. 29 is canceled. The budget workshops scheduled Nov. 23, 28 and 30 are also canceled.
All borough offices will be closed Nov. 23 and 24 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
