Policy reviews proceed

The Human Resources Committee Nov. 13 continued its task of reviewing board policies and presenting proposed changes to the school board.

This month’s policies regard purchasing, human resource standards and food service.

The Finance Committee discussed the renewal of “Time Clock Plus” and the “Cohesion Network.” The former is an employee attendance tool, while the latter is a Lehigh Valley organization that collaborates with residents, organizations and local government to empower one another to flourish and become leaders who create lasting change. BASD benefits from this by referring to the Cohesion Network as part of students’ individual service plan as it provides services for parents and students, helping with positive discipline techniques.

The Finance Committee also supports using Via Media as an advertising resource to recruit additional bus drivers for the 2023-24 school year.

Chief Pupil Service Officer Clair Hogan said “Marker Learning” is a resource for student psychoeducational evaluations. There is a national shortage of school psychologists, creating a void in school districts. Marker Learning provides initial evaluations and clear diagnosis with certified documentation that can be used for IEP, 504 plans, and school or work accommodations.
