Lois Arlene August, 93, of Bethlehem, died Nov. 12, 2023. Born in Riegelsville, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Helen (Bortz) Hinkel. She was the wife of the late Anthony F. August Sr.

She was a seamstress for the former R.K. Laros and the former Jimjam for many years until retiring.

She was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, Bethlehem.

She was one of the first women to gain support for running for Lower Saucon Township Council.

She is survived by a daughter, Marie L.; two sons, Dennis A. and wife Diane and James A. and wife Kimla Cotropia; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, Anthony F. August Jr.; three brothers; and six sisters.
