Ronald L. “Bubba” Royer, 82, of St. James City, Fla, formerly Slatington, died peacefully Nov. 10, 2023, in Hospice House, Cape Coral, Fla.

He was the son of the late Thomas and Pauline (Mertz) Royer.

He and his wife, the late Norma (Meckes) Royer, were married 61 years on June 22, 2023.

He served his country in the Navy before beginning his career at Eichler’s Wood Shop, where he learned his outstanding love for woodworking.

This would eventually lead him to his hobby of woodcarving, a talent much admired.

He retired from Mack Trucks in 1991

He and his wife also ran a family farm where he instilled the values of hard work and determination in their three children.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting and woodcarving

He was a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, Laurys Station.

His survivors include children Ryan L. and wife, Sherry W., of Schnecksville, Chad L. and wife, Heather L., of Slatington, Rae and partner, Garett J. Wootton, of North Palm Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no calling hours at this time.
