Dorothy Marie Baer, formerly of Schnecksville and Whitehall, died peacefully Nov. 9, 2023, in Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation, South Whitehall.

Born in Catasauqua, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Lelko) Kohut.

She was the library secretary at the Whitehall-Coplay Middle School, for almost 30 years.

She enjoyed reading, word find puzzles, gambling at the casino and cheering on her favorite Whitehall Zephyrs and Penn State Nittany Lions.

Her greatest love, however, was her family.

Her survivors include son Scott and wife, Christi, of Lewes, Del.; daughter Heidi of Schnecksville, with whom she recently resided; and Holly, wife of David Thaler of Stroudsburg; granddaughters Nicole, wife of Nathan Hower, Samantha, wife of Troy Gibson, Emily Thaler and Faith, wife of Jacob August; and great-grandchildren Peyton, Kendall and Avery Hower and Tenley and Elliott Gibson.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Fr. Eric J. Gruber and Deacon Jack C. O’Connell at 11 a.m. Nov. 16, in St. John Fisher Catholic Church, 1229 Third St., North Catasauqua, where her viewing will begin at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, North Catasauqua.
