DA announces sentencing in 2022 fatal crash

On Nov. 8, Lehigh County District Attorney Jim Martin announced the sentencing in a fatal crash that occurred in 2022 in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.

Brian C. McGoldrick, 42, of Glenside, pleaded guilty Sept. 12 to charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, a felony of the first degree, and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content of 0.16% and greater, second offense, a misdemeanor of the first degree.

McGoldrick was sentenced Nov. 7 to five to 19 years in state prison and one year of probation by the Honorable James T. Anthony.

Pennsylvania State Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash 11:02 p.m. Sept. 2, 2022, on Airport Road, south of Catasauqua Road.

An investigation revealed McGoldrick’s car was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Airport Road when it struck another vehicle head on. That vehicle was driven by Catherine Ann Neelon, 55.

Neelon died from blunt force injuries due to a motor vehicle crash, and her death was ruled accidental by the Lehigh County coroner.

Approximately one hour and 10 minutes after the crash occurred, McGoldrick’s BAC was 0.263%, Martin said. He was, therefore, driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

The case was investigated by PSP Trooper Justin N. Yozsa and prosecuted by Chief Deputy District Attorney V. Paul Bernardino III.
