Coplay: Saengerbund plans schnitzel dinner

Coplay Saengerbund, 205 S. Fifth St., is planning to hold a schnitzel dinner, set for Nov. 18. Serving times are 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Meals include a choice of pork or chicken schnitzel with or without mushroom sauce, spaetzle or mashed potatoes and more.

Proceeds benefit the Saengerbund heritage committee.

For those who ordered Thanksgiving filling from St. John’s Lutheran Church, 18 S. Third St., pickup is set for 1-3:30 p.m. Nov. 17 and 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 18.

Orders were due by Nov. 10.

The 57th annual community Thanksgiving service at St. John’s Lutheran Church will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 19.

Meet parishioners from St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God and more.

Flowers are provided by Coplay Garden Club, and a freewill offering will benefit Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association.

Coplay Recreation and Welfare Association is sponsoring the annual Coplay tree-lighting ceremony Nov. 30 at borough hall, 98 S. Fourth St.

Tom Yurasits will perform his magic act inside the borough hall auditorium 6:30 p.m. The holiday display lighting will take place after the magic show.

Refreshments will be served.

Tickets are now available for Coplay Public Library’s 50/50 holiday raffle.

Purchase your tickets at the library, 49 S. Fifth St.

The drawing will be held noon Dec. 16.

The library will close 5 p.m. Nov. 22 and will be closed Nov. 23 for the Thanksgiving holiday. It will reopen to the public 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Nov. 24.

Coplay Food Bank, located in the lower level of the municipal building, is open 8:30-10 a.m. the second Tuesday of every month.

If unable to attend the scheduled Tuesday morning time frame, call Jodi at 610-262-0928 to make other arrangements.

The food bank needs coffee, spaghetti sauce and noodles, canned pasta, rice pouches and non-sweetened dry cereals. Monetary donations are always accepted.
