DUI accident

A 43-year-old Macungie motorist was charged with allegedly driving under the influence and related charges after an single vehicle crash in the 7500 block of Mountain Road, Lower Macungie Township, Sept. 30, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The motorist was eastbound on Mountain Road at approximately 2:58 p.m. when the vehicle went off the right shoulder, struck a telephone pole and traveled into the lawn of a residence. A passenger in the car was hurt and taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital, according to authorities. The driver was taken to the hospital by state police troopers “due to his intoxication levels,” according to a news release from state police. Macungie EMS also responded to the scene.

Retail theft

A 21-year-old male, of Coopersburg, allegedly removed $261.90 worth of medication from retailer Target, 749 N. Krocks Road, Lower Macungie Township, 10:49 a.m. Oct. 18, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.

Two people removed an unknown number of fragrance and cosmetic items from discount retailer Nordstrom Rack, 750 N. Krocks Road, Suite #303, Lower Macungie Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The incident was reported 3:53 p.m. Oct. 11.

Scam

A resident of Heritage Drive, Lower Macungie Township, received a fraudulent email believed to be from a church official requesting money. The resident then provided redemption numbers for $600 in prepaid Visa cards to the fraudulent email account, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The incident was reported Oct. 18.

Harassment

A 50-year-old female, of Emmaus, was cited for alleged harassment after an argument escalated at a residence on Kingsview Road, Lower Macungie Township, Oct. 18, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville.

Extortion/ blackmail

An unknown actor allegedly attempted to coerce a resident of Pioneer Drive, Lower Macungie Township, into paying for photographs and videos, according to Pennsylvania State Police Fogelsville. The photos and videos were described by authorities as “sensitive.” The incident was reported Oct. 16.
