Northampton: Historical society to hold Veterans Day program Nov. 12

Northampton Area Historical Society will be holding a Veterans Day program Nov. 12 in the Northampton Area High School auditorium, 1619 Laubach Ave.

Doors will open 1 p.m., followed by a 1:30 p.m. concert by the American Legion Band of Bethlehem.

The main program will begin 2 p.m. During this time, the names of the Hometown Heroes who are shown on the banners throughout Northampton will be read.

The public, especially those who have had banners purchased for themselves and/or their loved ones, is encouraged to attend. Admission is free.

Reminder: An all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner, basket social and bake sale will be held 4-7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Grace United Church of Christ, 902 Lincoln Ave. The dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, roll, beverage and dessert for dine-in or takeout.

It is not necessary to be present for the basket drawing, to be held 7 p.m.

Tickets can be either purchased in advance or at the door.

Grace UCC is having a hoagie and sandwich sale. Orders and payment are due by Nov. 12. The hoagies are Italian or tuna, and the sandwiches are ham and cheese or tuna.

The pickup date will be 4-6 p.m. Nov. 15.

Order forms can be picked up in the church office weekday mornings or downloaded on the church website at graceuccchurch.com.

Come enjoy breakfast 8 a.m.-noon Nov. 12 at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 2181 Washington Ave. The menu includes French toast, pancakes, omelet or scrambled eggs, ham, sausage or bacon, hash browns, toast, juice, coffee or tea.

The special this month is creamed chipped beef on toast.

The event will be held in the church’s social hall and is open to the public.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1235 Main St., will hold a designer bag bingo 1 p.m. Nov. 18. Doors open 11 a.m. There will also be a Chinese auction and refreshments.

Tickets will be sold in advance for an incentive or at the door.

Assumption of the Virgin Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1301 Newport Ave., is holding a nut roll sale. The flavors include apricot, lekvar, nut, poppy seed, red raspberry and pumpkin.

Orders can be picked up at the church 10 a.m.-noon Dec. 9.
