Hanover council reviews River Central plan goals

At the Nov. 1 Hanover Township, Lehigh County, Council meeting, the River Central Multi-Municipal Comprehensive Plan was reviewed. The plan can be found at planrivercentral.org.

Council adopted the comprehensive plan at the Aug. 2 meeting via resolution 2023-41. Hanover was the first of the five municipalities involved to adopt the plan. The other River Central municipalities are the boroughs of Catasauqua, North Catasauqua and Northampton and East Allen Township.

Goals of the plan include fostering increased cooperation between the five municipalities to ensure coordinated economic development to facilitate growth and help control costs.

In other business, the township is requesting anyone planning to rent a pavilion at one of the township’s parks act early to reserve the space. Reservations can be made as early as Jan. 1, 2024. To reserve a pavilion, visit hanleco.org or call the township office.

Sherwood Park, 1915 Sherwood St., Allentown, boasts one baseball/softball field, two tennis courts, two basketball courts, a tot playground, a play area for all ages, a pavilion area that can accommodate a party up to 100 individuals, two accessible bathrooms during the summer and electricity.

The other two parks are Canal Park and Chestnut Grove Park. Contact the township office for information about the parks. Rules, regulations and capacity of the parks are noted on the township’s website.

The township remains in need of a code enforcement officer. The code enforcement officer’s duties include the issuance of permits, notices, the making of inspections to determine conformance with applicable codes and ordinances and other inspection duties.
