A 72-year-old man has died after falling approximately 34 feet off a grain bin on his property around 10:10 a.m. Oct. 29 in the 9000 block of Main St., Upper Macungie Township.

Dennis D. Schaffer was pronounced dead at 10:55 a.m. at the scene, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio says.

He said the cause of Schaffer’s death is multiple blunt force and traumatic injuries due to the fall.

The manner of his death was ruled an accident, Buglio said.

According to Buglio, Schaffer was attempting to repair a malfunctioning unit on top of the grain bin when he slipped off and fell to the ground.

In addition to the coroner’s office, the Upper Macungie Township Police Department is investigating this incident.
