Hermie F. Schappell, 100, of Allentown, formerly of New Tripoli, died peacefully Oct. 22, 2023, in Cedarbrook Senior Care and Rehabilitation, South Whitehall.

She was the widow of Curtis J. Schappell, who died in 2000.

Born in Stony Run, she was a daughter of the late Llewellyn A. and Lizzie A. (Kunkel) Hamm.

She worked for the former Kempton Sportswear Co., Lynnville, for many years until retiring in 1995.

She was the oldest member of Jacob’s Church, New Tripoli, and a lifetime member of Hamburg and Lynnport fire companies.

Her survivors include daughters Judy A. Baer and Cindy A. (Ronald E.) Loch, all of New Tripoli; grandchildren Kerry, Timothy and Tarissa; and great-grandsons Damien and LeRoy.

The last of her siblings, she was predeceased by her sisters Edith Hamm, Betty Jane Wanamaker and Arlene Snyder; brothers Elmer, Lester, Ernest and Harold Hamm; and son-in-law Carson Baer.

Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Lynnport Community Fire Company, sent to the funeral home, 8405 Kings Highway, New Tripoli.
