Donald M. Meyers

Donald M. Meyers, 80, of Kempton, died peacefully Oct. 24, 2023, in his home.

The loving husband of Vernette L. (Detweiler) Meyers, the couple shared more than 57 years of marriage.

Born in Sellersville, he was the son of the late Emerson and Theda (Moyer) Meyers.

A 1961 graduate of Pennridge High School, Sellersville, after graduation, he spent more than two years in voluntary service through the Mennonite Church and that began his passion for volunteer work.

He was a hardworking, self-employed dairy farmer in Albany Township.

His dedication to serving his community continued throughout his life.

He was a member of and former councilman for New Bethel Church, Kempton, was the current president of Kempton Community Center, a former officer of Kempton Fire Co., a former president of Kempton Lions Club, a former member of state and national Holstein associations, and a was a charter member of the Club H social organization.

He will be remembered for his fun spirit, kind heart and generosity.

In addition to his devoted wife, he is survived by his son, Brooke L. (Gretchen) Meyers of Lenhartsville; daughters Stacey L. (Steven) Mertz of Fleetwood, and Melissa S. Meyers and companion, Dave, of Golden, Colo.; grandchildren Zachary and fiancée Haley Bailey, Daniel (Alexa) Meyers, Tyler Mertz, Jenna Meyers and Marinka Tomsich; great-grandchildren Maverick Lee and Harper Lee; sisters Dorothy Zobrist of Gulf Shores, Ala., and Ruth (Robert) Thomas of Dewey, Ariz.

There will be a celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Dec. 30, at Kempton Community Center, 83 Community Center Drive.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert Ziehmer will officiate.
