LHS, BC aim for finals

Liberty and Bethlehem Catholic are both on the verge of finding themselves in the District 11 volleyball championships this week.

The third-seeded Hurricanes took on second-seeded Southern Lehigh in Tuesday’s District 11 4A semifinals with the winner likely playing top-seeded Parkland in Thursday night’s championship.

The Trojans face Nazareth in the semifinals, as they bid for their 10th straight district championship this week. Liberty reached the finals last year and are looking for another shot at redemption.

Liberty lost to Parkland twice already this season, including a sweep in the EPC championship.

Bethlehem Catholic, the fourth-seed in 3A, needs to get through top-seeded Pottsville in Tuesday’s semifinal round for a trip to the finals against favorite, second-seeded Central Catholic.

The Hawks have won the last four district championships, but that will be out to the test this season if they meet Central, as the Vikings swept them in their only matchup this season.
