The candidates were asked to respond to the following question in 100 words or less:
What makes you uniquely qualified for this elected position?
DEMOCRAT/REPUBLICAN JEFFREY J. WARREN
DEMOCRAT/REPUBLICAN KEN SNYDER
As a resident for over 60 years and with a business in Whitehall for 46 years, I am very familiar with Whitehall. I can help improve our township in the following areas, which effect all of our residents.
Whitehall has four major areas of concern: parks and recreation, police and fire, personnel transition and taxes. I believe these areas are currently in need of special scrutiny. When elected, I promise the citizens of Whitehall that I will take special care in looking into these concerns and make improvements. Visit my website for additional details: whitehall1st.com.
DEMOCRAT RANDY ATIYEH
DEMOCRAT VICTOR NASSAR
REPUBLICAN ELIZABETH FOX
I am anything but ordinary. I would work with the community to listen to what the community members have to say. I would bring new ideas and solutions to our communities’ issues, and it starts with fresh leadership to lead us into the future.
A top priority of mine is ending nepotism within the township government. The “good old boys” network will be replaced with accountability and transparency - a municipal government that best serves the people, not the politicians.
REPUBLICAN LORIANN FEHNEL
I am the only candidate with a public safety background. I am a former 911 dispatcher, former paramedic, and I have worked in health care for 23 years, which gives me the unique perspective on what we can do to improve our public safety by recruiting and maintaining volunteer firefighters and coexisting with a paid fire department, even if it means change in leadership.
Having a health care background makes me understand that the current public meeting room doors are not handicap accessible enough.
It is time for the police department to reimplement neighborhood crime watch.
Good luck to all candidates.
