The holiday season is ramping up and that means holiday related township office closures.

Mark your calendar as follows for the Thanksgiving holiday:

Lower Milford and Upper Milford township offices will be closed Nov. 23 and 24.

Library users in Upper Milford Township please note the Emmaus Public library also will be closed Nov. 23 and 24 as will the Southern Lehigh Public Library, the home library for Lower Milford Township.

There is a lot to do, however, before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Those in need of a flu shot may also help neighbors in need through the Lehigh Valley Health Network’s free community drive-thru flu shot clinic 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 4 at Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, 4000 Dorney Park Road, Allentown.

Donations of diapers, toiletries and nonperishable unexpired food items will be particularly appreciated.

Visit the website LVHN.org/flushot to register, complete the required consent form, check dates and locations for other flu shot clinics in the area and other details about the clinics such as maps of the sites.

Lower Milford Township Fire Company #1 continues its hoagie sale fundraisers. For the latest sale, orders are due by 5 p.m. Nov. 12 and pickup is 5 to 6 p.m. Nov. 14. Visit the website www.lowermilfordfire.org for information.

The Upper Milford Historical Society traditionally does not hold programs in November and December. However, Upper Milford residents and others in need of a local history fix may want to attend the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society quarterly meeting and free program 7 p.m. Nov. 28 at the Upper Milford Township building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville. The free program is titled “Harvest Home Celebration - The Original Pennsylvania German Thanksgiving.” Bob Gerhart will present the program. All are welcome.

For those in need of holiday gift ideas, Old Zionsville United Church of Christ, 5981 Fountain Road, Old Zionsville, will hold its 26th annual Bazaar & Filled Basket Auction 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 11. Shoppers are encouraged to come and browse through the array of crafters and vendors, check out the auction baskets, purchase tickets for a chance to win baskets and check out the bake sale.

On Nov. 30, the Emmaus Public Library, the home library for Upper Milford Township residents, welcomes children of all ages to participate in its program Books & Barks, 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. in the library lecture room, 11 E. Main St., Emmaus. Lehigh Valley Therapy Dogs will listen to stories drawn from the library stacks or readers may bring a favorite story from home.

Volunteer bakers as well as cookie-loving customers are needed for the Southern Lehigh Public Library 12th annual Baker’s Choice Holiday Cookie Sale. Pickup times for the cookies are 12:30 to 5 p.m. Dec. 15 and 10 a.m. to noon Dec. 16. Bakers and buyers must register with the library to participate in the sale. There is a cost per one pound box and payment is due at the time an order is placed.

The Lower Milford Township board of supervisors next meet 6:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at the township building, 7607 Chestnut Hill Church Road.

The Upper Milford Township board of supervisors next meet 6:30 p.m. Nov. 2 and 16 at the township building, 5671 Chestnut St. An online option also is available.
