Two candidates are seeking a seat on Northampton Borough Council, representing the 1st Ward. The term is four years.

The candidates were asked to respond to the following question in 100 words or less:

What makes you uniquely qualified for this elected position?

DEMOCRAT JUDITH A. HALDEMAN

I was born and raised in Northampton. I was employed by the county of Northampton for 38 years. I was appointed to borough council two years ago and chair the Building, Land and Recreation Committee as well as serve on Public Works and Sewer Committee. In addition, I am an NBMA board member and serve on LV Planning Commission.

I continue to educate myself on borough operations and am dedicated to working with our borough manager and fellow council members to best serve our residents. Updating our infrastructure and assuring all of our departments are equipped and funded to be able to provide the best services for our town is of importance while still maintaining fiscal responsibility.

Communicating to our residents and listening and responding to concerns benefit everyone who resides in Northampton.
