EHS performs ‘Little Women’ Nov. 2, 3, 4

Those familiar with the novel “Little Women” by Louisa May Alcott know the story of the March family including the four girls Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy as they struggle as a family while their father serves in the Civil War.

The adaptation by Kate Hamill follows Jo and her sisters approaching adulthood, negotiating private ambitions with society’s expectations.

“In a war-torn world defined by gender, class and personal tragedy, Jo March gives us her greatest story: that of the March sisters, four dreamers destined to be imperfect little women,” according to Dramatists Play Service.

The cast includes: Jo March played by Rose Alsleben, Meg March played by Julia Brown, Amy March played by Persia Mullay, Beth March played by Dylan Dueh, Marmee March played by Lorelei Kilka, Laurie Laurence played by Aiden Panko, John Brooks played by Charles Kenney, Mr. Laurence/Robert March/Doctor played by T.J. Seislove, Aunt March played by Lila Schneider, Hannah/Messenger played by Cece Christ, Mrs. Mignott played by Miel Orrison, Mr. Dashwood played by Cullen Rowley and Parrot played by Matthew McCambridge.

The artistic director/producer for “Little Women” is Jill E. Kuebler. Assistant director is Diane DiDona.

Set design and construction is attributed to Chris Kollar and Rylie Newpher is the stage manager for the production. Production assistant is Anna Smith.

DiDona also handled costume and properties design and costumes were provided by Scaramouche Costumes.

Lighting design is by Dave Dougherty and Brett Heier. Lighting crew includes Alexa Ebeling, Heier, Kaliyah Lebron, Thure Thompson and Julia Visco.

Sound design is by Dougherty and Kayla DiGiacomo. The sound crew includes DiGiacomo, Abigail Gruber, Delaney Reilly and Claire Yoder.

Stage technician is Mike Eisentraut.

Assistant stage managers are Jabari Howard and Joseph Ko.

Choreographer is Emily Brown.

Volunteer coordinators are Maeve Yanes, Anna Smith and Ava Grace Saab.

House manager is Corinne Fecho.

The build/run crew includes Nora Benner, Harrison Covell, SheaLeigh Eisenberg, Steal Eisenhart, Howard, Ko, Newpher, Liam Paradise, Ariana Ruiz, Cecilia Ruyak, Mikayla Sames, Bree Schoonover and Hailey Wagner.

The parrot design and creation is attributed to the team of Lexi Soboleski, Katie Pfenninger and Kell Smith.

“This production would not have been possible without the commitment and dedication of every student involved, whether onstage or behind the scenes,” Kuebler said. “Our students’ appreciation of theater as a vital art form that teaches collaboration, respect and discipline constantly reaffirms my belief in the positive impact of the arts on the lives of young people. I am filled with pride at what they have accomplished.”

“Little Women” will be performed 7 p.m. Nov. 2, 3 and 4 in the EHS Auditorium, 500 Macungie Ave., Emmaus.
