EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents are Jennifer and Kevin Doyle and my sister is Lindsay Doyle. I also have a dog named Cooper.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. My favorite subjects are math and science because they make sense to me. I like being given a problem and having there being a clear correct answer.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. I am an Eagle Scout in my Boy Scout Troop and I am the trumpet section leader in the marching band. I am also a member of National Honor Society and Tri-M, which is the musical honor society. I have also received principal’s honor roll every year so far.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. I am active in Boy Scouts and have been since first grade. This has helped me become the person I am today and I gained a lot of leadership skills and confidence from this program. I have also been a part of the Emmaus marching band the last two years and I have made many of my closest friends through this activity. Finally, I worked at Dorney Park this past summer in food service, which gave me work experience and many valuable skills that I can use in the future.

Q. What do you consider to be your biggest challenge to date?

A. My biggest challenge so far was switching to public school freshman year. I went to St. Thomas More until eighth grade, so I hardly knew anyone at Emmaus. On top of that, this was during COVID-19 so there were very few opportunities to meet new people.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I am going to go to college to pursue an engineering degree.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. I hope to emulate Keanu Reeves because he is extremely good at his job while still being very humble and kind. I hope to be this type of person in the future.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for being a good person, friend and student, as well as being active in my community.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. My advice would be to get involved with activities you are passionate about and commit to them. It is much easier to spend all of your time focused on three activities than to try and spread your attention among 12 different ones.
