The District 11 volleyball tournament is set to tip-off this week with all three Bethlehem schools qualifying for the postseason.
Liberty checks in as the highest seed of the three, as the Hurricanes are the third seed in 4A and open with sixth-seeded Easton in Thursday’s quarterfinals.
Liberty (17-2) have beaten the Rovers twice already this season, sweeping them in the first encounter and winning the second one in four games.
After losing to top-seeded Parkland (19-0) in the EPC semifinals, Liberty will avoid the Trojans until a potential district championship appearance. If the Hurricanes can knock off Easton, they’ll get the winner of the two-seven matchup between Southern Lehigh (18-0) and Emmaus (11-8) in next Tuesday’s semifinals.
Freedom (8-10) squeaked into the tournament as the final ninth seed and opened on the road at Pocono Mountain West (13-6) on Tuesday. The winner of this showdown gets the daunting task of Parkland in the quarterfinals.
In the 3A tournament, Bethlehem Catholic (9-7) earned the fourth seed in the eight team tournament and host Northwestern (12-8) in Tuesday’s four-five matchup.
The winner moves on to play either top-seeded Pottsville (18-0) or eighth-seeded Saucon Valley (7-9) in Wednesday’s semifinals.
