Spaghetti anyone?

St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets, Emmaus, will hold its annual all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner 4-7 p.m. Nov 4. There is a minimal cost for anyone over the age of 5. Reservations are not required. For information, call 610-965-9885.

The Lower Lehigh AARP will meet Nov. 2 in the lower level of Macungie Memorial Park Hall.

Dues will be collected. Bring both cards. Bingo will be played. Tickets for the Dec. 14 Christmas party will be available. For questions or more information, call Dot at 610-967-3284.

The Emmaus Historical Society and Museum, 218 Main St., is open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Stop by for a visit and learn more about this history-filled community and see the new fall displays.

The historical society’s next program and membership meeting will be 7 p.m. Nov. 15 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Parish Hall, 501 Chestnut St., Emmaus.

The program, “Penn’s Woods, the Peaceable Kingdom” will be presented by Carla J.S. Messinger. This program will be an in-depth look at the relations of the Lenape with the Quakers, the Moravians and the later euro cultures. Programs are free and members and nonmembers are welcome to attend.

The Emmaus Historical Society is now accepting donations for the June 1, 2024 community yard sale. The society cannot accept clothing, upholstered furniture, electronics (small appliances are accepted), nor baby items such as swings, car seats, cribs, playpens, etc. Donations are accepted most Saturdays during the museum hours of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Emmaus Public Library holds many events for teens, including teen Zumba classes throughout November and December.

A certified instructor will lead classes for all 13-19 year olds 11 a.m. to noon Nov. 4, 11 and 18 and Dec. 2, 9 and 16.

These Zumba sessions integrate dance, fitness and fun so make sure to register in advance by emailing eplkids@cliu.org, calling 610-965-9284 or visiting the desk at the library.

Teens are invited to attend the monthly teen writing night 6-8 p.m. every second Thursday in the Margaret Knoll Gardner Lecture Room.

The writing group invites middle and high school students to a night of brainstorming and writing process discussion. Teens may share their writing if they wish and no registration is required.

From now until Oct. 31 you may trick or treat at the library. Arrive at the library dressed in your costume and receive a candy and/or non-candy treat. Participants will get their photo placed in the library’s virtual Halloween parade as well.

The library will host parent and child workshops 10:30 a.m. to noon for five Tuesdays Nov. 14 throughout Dec. 12, in the lecture room. The event is open to toddlers ages 1-3, their parents/caretakers and siblings 5 years old and younger.

The workshops will center on play-focused interaction in an informal and fun setting. A community resource professional will attend these events to speak about child and parenting issues.

Nov. 18 will feature a meet the author event with Brandie Barndt 2-2:30 p.m. for all third through sixth graders.

Barndt will introduce her interactive fiction book, “The Yellow Zone: Be Aware and Make Good Choices.” The book chronicles characters Mac and Donald stumbling upon various situations and contemplating their response and includes critical thinking questions encouraging young readers to consider how they would personally respond.

Barndt teaches at Northampton Area Middle School and created The Yellow Zone to help children better assess problems safely. Proceeds from the novel’s sales will support the PA State Police, Troop M, Camp Cadet program. No sign-up required to experience this helpful presentation.

The Emmaus Farmers Market will continue its regular season hours through November, with vendors 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Sunday in the Triangle.

The winter season will begin in December and run through April 2024, operating 10 a.m. to noon only on the second and fourth Sundays.

The zoning hearing board will meet 7-8 p.m. Oct. 25. A public safety committee meeting will occur 9-10 a.m. Oct. 26. Emmaus Borough Council will meet next 6-7 p.m. Nov. 6 and Nov. 20.

The planning commission also has an upcoming meeting 7-8 p.m. Nov. 9.

All these meetings and more are open via Zoom, with the required information on the calendar at emmauspa.gov.

The Emmaus Lioness Lions Club’s Scarf Shower will feature beautiful scarves handmade by club members. The club distributes the scarves for free to anyone who needs one before the winter months. Scarves will be available 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Triangle, with a Nov. 5 rain date (same time).

The Emmaus Theatre organizes many unique events for community members of all ages. “The Nightmare Before Christmas” will be screened at various times Oct. 28 through Nov. 2 to mark the film’s 30th anniversary.

The theater will welcome the comedy club Night Moves 7:30-9 p.m. Oct. 26. There is an admission charge for this BYOB event. “Angry Young Band: The Billy Joel Tribute” will perform 8-10 p.m. Nov. 4. This seven-piece band will bring Billy Joel’s hits to life and you may purchase tickets online through eventbrite.com, by first visiting emmaustheatre.com.

Visit the Emmaus Theatre for an Italian Comedy Night with Joe Matarese 8-10 p.m. Nov. 11. Matarese’s career includes appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman and America’s Got Talent, where all four celebrity judges gave him a standing ovation. Purchase tickets in advance for preferred seats. This night of comedy will also include an on-site drink vendor.
