Dance music could be heard blasting from Salisbury Middle School during the evening of Oct. 20 as the school held its annual Fall Ball.
The event provides an opportunity for students to relax and enjoy themselves with classmates and teachers in a fun, informal setting.
Most students started the evening at the games section, trying their luck to win a Halloween candy prize.
According to Kamrya Kaough, who helped with the apple toss game, the year has gotten off to a great start. She told The Press about how much fun she and her classmates had at SkyZone, as well as their recent field trip to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire.
Gracelyn Williams, who is a member of student council, spoke to The Press about how much she enjoys having a voice in that club. “In elementary school, we did what we were told,” she explained. As a middle school student, she is enjoying the fact she has a voice in student activities. “Now I can plan them,” Williams said.
Another student helping ensure things ran smoothly was Geishliannys Perez, who was helping with the can knockout game. “It has been a great start to the year,” she said.
Slowly, the students started to converge on to another section of the cafeteria. Forming a large circle and with cellphone lights on, they started dancing to songs like, “I’m Blue” from Eiffel 65 and “You Need to Calm Down” by Taylor Swift.
One by one, the students each took a turn in the middle of the circle, showing off their best dance moves, while their teacher/chaperones looked on, watching them enjoy their Friday night with friends.
