Firefighters check equipment at training session Oct. 16

Press Photo by Jim Marsh At their weekly drill session Oct. 16, Western Salisbury Volunteer Fire Company firefighters pull all the hoses from the department's 31-12 pumper engine to look for “leaks or bulges.” The work session was to assure firefighters of the integrity of all hoses on the engine. “We do this so we don't have to discover a problem when we are called to fight a fire,” WSVFC Chief Joshua Wells said. Wells said it was relatively simple deploying the hoses and testing them with pressurized water. “Getting them properly loaded and stowed back on the truck for fast deployment was another matter and took a lot more time than pulling them off,” Wells said.
