EHS Theater Department performs ‘Little Women’

Applications to the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Seminar are now open to all Emmaus High School sophomores. Running June 14-16, 2024 at Neumann University, the seminar aims to foster leadership and service skills in globally-minded students. To apply, sophomores must fill out the application form, linked in the EHS announcements website, by 2:30 p.m. Oct. 27. No late applications will be accepted. Gathering on the first and third Wednesdays of each month, the Young Republicans Club will host its next meeting after school Nov. 1 in Room 310. Interested students may also join the club’s Schoology group with code V7KF-3XNJ-J65F7. Contact lsmeltz@eastpennsd.org with questions.

For its fall play, the EHS Theater Department presents “Little Women,” adapted from the 1868 novel by Louisa May Alcott. Shows will be held 7 p.m. Nov. 2, 3 and 4 in the EHS auditorium. In partnership with Lower Macungie Township, the Interact Club is collecting toiletries, candy, snacks, puzzles and games to benefit military troops. No chocolate or perishable donations will be accepted, with the collection closing Nov. 11. For a full list of accepted donations, look for flyers posted around EHS bulletin boards. The EHS field study program is accepting applications for the spring semester, offering students academic credit through internships, job shadowing and other real-world exposure.

Available fields include but are not limited to construction, education, hospitality, interior design and law. Because the program is customized to student schedules, those interested must email kduffy@eastpennsd.org, filling out the application at https://sites.google.com/eastpennsd.org/ehsfieldstudy/ehs-field-study.

Throughout the 2023-2024 school year, Habitat for Humanity will sell doughnuts in the HIVE every Thursday morning before classes. Sales will benefit both the club and local families in need of housing. For details, reach out to mrusso@eastpennsd.org.

Sponsored by National Honor Society, students are now eligible to receive free peer tutoring, running every day during Hornet Homeroom (omit Thursdays). Tutoring is available for all subjects. However, depending on the availability of tutors, it may take multiple days to match students with a tutor. To sign up, fill out the Google Form linked in students’ “Class of” Schoology page. Additional questions may be directed to lwood@eastpennsd.org.

For students and faculty whose assigned parking spots are taken by another vehicle: take a picture of the vehicle’s license plate and email it to gjones@eastpennsd.org. In the meantime, drivers may park in the parallel spots of Lot J.
