EHS names student of the week

Q. In what grade are you currently enrolled?

A. I am currently enrolled in 12th grade at Emmaus High School.

Q. Please provide the first names of your family members: parents, siblings and pets.

A. My parents’ names are Greg and Lynn and my younger sister’s name is Brooke. I also have a golden retriever, Buddy and a guinea pig named Congo.

Q. What is your favorite subject? Why?

A. Since middle school, my favorite subject has been social studies. I enjoy learning about the world, the people in it and how they interact and change.

Q. Have you received any special awards or recognition?

A. In addition to achieving principal’s honor roll each year, I have received several underclassmen awards, including the Spanish, orchestra and broadcasting and film awards. I am also a member of National Honor Society and National Spanish Honor Society.

Q. Are you involved in any extracurricular activities? How has being involved in these organizations impacted your high school experience?

A. Participating in orchestra, stage crew and Interact Club allows me to pursue my interests and helps me make friends with common passions. This year, I am the president of the Tri-M Music Honor Society and on the theater department leadership team. Being in a leadership position lets me better share my love for music and theater with others.

Q. What do you consider your biggest challenge to date?

A. Especially leading up to my senior year, figuring out my college major has been tough. Over the past year, I have changed my mind several times about what I want to study and what career I want to pursue.

Q. What is your next goal after high school?

A. I definitely want to go to college near a city; however, I am still unsure which college to go to. As for my major, I am leaning toward sociology.

Q. Whom do you hope to emulate? Why?

A. I hope to emulate qualities from both my parents. My mom is very hardworking and offers wise advice after listening to me. My dad is patient and supportive; he always says “I believe in you.” I hope to be a positive influence just like them.

Q. For what would you like to be remembered?

A. I would like to be remembered for my dedication to both my schoolwork and interests.

Q. Do you have any advice for your peers?

A. Finding your school-work-life balance is necessary. Participating in many activities can be overwhelming, so learn when to say no. I know it seems like you’re expected to please everybody, but having down time is important too.
