CMS News: Red Ribbon Week continues

Red Ribbon Week at Catasauqua Middle School continues through Oct. 27. The goal of Red Ribbon Week is to raise awareness and increase education about the dangers of substance abuse and to keep kids drug free.

Each day of the week features a different dress-up theme. The remaining themes include wear red Oct. 26 to make really excellent decisions to stay away from drugs, and wear Halloween costumes Oct. 27 for the Boo Bash.

Halloween costumes cannot contain a mask, look-a-like weapons or studded spikes. It must be school appropriate, abide by the dress code and must not cause a disruption in class.

Picture retake day will be held Oct. 30. Pictures must be returned before ordering a retake picture.

The last day of the marking period is Nov. 1.

The first CMS dance of the year is scheduled for 6:30-8:30 p.m. Nov. 3.

Volunteer chaperones and food and monetary donations are needed.

There will be no school for students Nov. 10 due to a teacher in-service/Act 80 day.

Don’t forget about the Nov. 11 Lehigh Valley Phantoms game against the Hershey Bears if you ordered tickets. The game starts 7:05 p.m. at PPL Center, 701 Hamilton St., Allentown.

The Catasauqua Middle School parent teacher forum organized the fundraiser night with Sheckler Elementary School.

Catasauqua Area School District is collecting new and gently used coats, hats and gloves for district students and families. All sizes are welcome.

Winter wear donations can be dropped off 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. in the district office, 201 N. 14th St.

The distribution will be 9 a.m.-noon Nov. 18.
