A Bethlehem man escaped police custody Oct. 16 after allegedly assaulting another person, according to a news release from Macungie Borough Police dated Oct. 17.
Javien Anthony Sabater, 22, who allegedly was involved in a domestic violence incident, remained at large and was believed to be in Lehigh County, according to authorities.
Sabater was described by Macungie police as 5 feet, 8 inches tall and approximately 150 pounds.
Magisterial court documents list charges filed against Sabater Oct. 16 as follows: aggravated assault, escape, evading arrest or detention on foot, simple assault, obstructing emergency services, endangering welfare of children, harassment, disorderly conduct and theft by unlawful taking.
Sabater may be in the City of Allentown or surrounding areas, according to authorities.
“The Macungie Police Department believes the domestic violence event was a targeted act of violence and do not believe (Sabater) poses a threat to the general public,” according to the news release.
Anyone with information about Sabater may contact Macungie police at 610-966-2222 or submit anonymous tips online through the department’s website, www.macungiepd.org.
“It is recommended that anyone with information about the location of Sabater not approach him, but instead contact 9-1-1 or Macungie police,” authorities wrote in the news release.
