The Emmaus girls cross country team capped another unbeaten season last week when it went 4-0 at its final East Penn Conference regular season meet.
The Hornets have now gone unbeaten every season for the past six years. They haven’t lost a dual meet since the 2017-18 regular season. That streak includes 88 straight dual-meet wins, four outright conference titles and two seasons in which the Hornets were co-champions along with other unbeaten teams.
Last week Emmaus beat Parkland (16-47), Whitehall (15-50), Central Catholic (15-50), and Allen (15-50).
Mady McCartney led Emmaus at the meet as four Hornets finished in the first four places overall. McCartney won the race, followed by teammates Payton Campbell, Brooke Miller and Sophia Kovalski. Isabella Scarlata rounded out the Emmaus top five with a sixth-place overall finish.
The Emmaus boys team went 3-1 at the meet to finish the season at 14-2. The Hornet boys beat Whitehall (15-50), Central Catholic (20-41) and Allen (15-50), but fell to Parkland (17-42).
Ryan Fach led the Emmaus boys team with a fourth-place overall finish, followed by teammates Conor Fisher (8th), Richard Will (10th), Jared Peter (11th) and Tyler Fink (13th).
The cross country postseason began Tuesday with the EPC Championships at DeSales University. See next week’s Press for more about the championship meet.
The District 11 Championship meet will also be held at DeSales. That is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 25.
