Stiles: IRT to hold historical walk

The Ironton Rail Trail Oversight Commission is holding its annual fall historical walk Oct. 21, beginning 9 a.m.

This event is free, and there is no need to register. The walk is about 7 miles and will take roughly four hours. The walk begins at the Whitehall Parkway barn on Chestnut Street.

Remember to bring water, binoculars and a camera. Your guides will show you 23 historical sites and landmarks as you stroll along the trail.

***

Whitehall Township’s annual Halloween parade will take place starting 7 p.m. Oct. 26.

The parade will travel west on Schadt Avenue to Campus Drive, which is on Whitehall-Coplay School District’s campus.

***

Trick-or-treat night in Whitehall will be held 6-8 p.m. Oct. 27. The rain date is set for Oct. 28.

Neighbors, remember to turn on your porch light if you plan to distribute Halloween treats to the children of the community.

Remember to have trick-or-treaters stay in a group and wear brightly colored clothing or reflective tape, so they can easily be seen. A flashlight is helpful to navigate dark streets, too. Please be extra careful if driving through our neighborhoods during this time.
