Anthony J. Sommer, 89, of Rittenhouse Village, Allentown, died Oct. 6, 2023, in his residence. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (Schuch) Sommer.
Born in Northampton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Heindl) Sommer.
He graduated high school from the Pontifical College Josephinum in Worthington, Ohio.
He worked at Mack Trucks for 30 years until he retired in 1987.
He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Anita M. Beitzer with husband Bruce of Allentown; two granddaughters, Amanda Beitzer and Kara Tucker with Sean; a grandson, Kyle Beitzer with Kayla; three great-granddaughters, Ellen, Nora and Faye Tucker; a sister, Margaret Bannon; two brothers, Edward with Peggy and Dennis with Cheryl; a companion, Joanne Collette; nieces; and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Jandrasits; and three brothers, John, Joseph and Alfred.
There will be calling time 10 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial 11 a.m., Oct. 23 at the church, 1879 Applewood Drive, Orefield.
