Township cleaning house and saving up

Bethlehem Township Commissioners approved the relocation of the helipad for St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson Campus move during their Oct. 2 meeting.

At last month’s commissioners’ meeting, Hospital Vice President of Strategic Development Ray Midlam had emphasized the helipad’s importance for the Anderson Campus, which primarily cares for critically ill children and infants.

In other news, the results of an audit by Campbell, Rapport & Yurasits were presented to the board by firm representatives Mary Grube and Paul Mack. The net position of all government funds (excluding pensions and custodial funds) increased by $4.5 million during 2022. This is primarily due to Act 511 Tax Proceeds, Permits and federal, state and local grants.

Commissioners also approved Police Chief Gregory Gottshall and Township Manager Doug Bruce’s request to auction a fleet of decommissioned police vehicles Municibid online government auction services.

Commissioner John Gallagher asked Bruce if it would be possible to remove a 1917 Ford Explorer from the list and see if the township could investigate “reassigning to another department [and] an estimate on what repairs might amount to.”

Bruce told Gallagher he would research this and get back to him.
